St Albans – Free to Explore

St Albans offers a wealth of historic sites, museums and independent shops and cafes to discover. The beautiful 11th Century Cathedral stands proudly in the centre, the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in England.  This was the third largest city in Roman Britain and the Verulamium houses some of the finest Roman mosaics and plasters outside of the Mediterranean.

We visit on a Wednesday, which is market day in St Albans, a colourful and vibrant street market with around 160 stalls selling a variety of goods.
