Day Excursions 2021

Getting out and about in 2021 on a day trip by coach is something we can all look forward to. We have put together a full and varied day excursion programme, with even more destinations being added over the coming months, for you to choose from. On a Swift Valley day trip, you can enjoy the sights and scenery whilst travelling on board our comfortable, luxury coaches in the company of friendly people with similar interests.

Monday 17th May

Bakewell and Buxton

This excursion visits the stunning town of Buxton with its world famous Georgian and Victorian architecture and beautiful ornamental gardens as well as the charming town of Bakewell, best known for its famous Bakewell Pudding and traditional market. On this tour from the comfort of the coach you can take in the stunning scenery of the Peak District.

Hay on Wye

On the edge of the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park, Hay on Wye is renowned for its books and bookshops. This pretty market town on the Welsh border is nestled on the bank of the beautiful River Wye, it has two Norman castles and a wealth of independent shops to browse around. A wander around the town and a stroll along the river is a real treat at this time of year.

Weston Super Mare

Enjoy some early summer sun on a very British day out at the seaside. Weston boasts long stretches of sandy beaches. Take a stroll along to the magnificent Grand Pier or take in the views from the ferris wheel on the seafront.

Hereford Cathedral featuring the Knife Angel

Hereford Cathedral boasts some of the finest examples of architecture from the Norman times to the present day. Here you can view the spectacular medieval map of the world in the award winning Mappa Mundy and Chained Library Exhibition. The Cathedral plays host to the magnificent 27ft Knife Angel on its tour around Britain, created by sculptor Alfie Bradley and made from confiscated knives it is a sight not to be missed.

RHS Bridgewater, Salford

The long anticipated RHS Bridgewater, a spectacular 154 acre garden in the heart of Salford, totally transforming the historic grounds of Worsley Hall in to a stunning green space created by landscape architect, Tom Stuart-Smith. Discount available for RHS members.

Bibury, Burford and Bourton

Join friends on a Cotswold tour, stopping at Bibury, Burford and Bourton arguably the most beautiful towns and villages on the Wolds. With time for lunch at one of the many delightful cafes and restaurants.

Saturday 10th July

Stonehenge & Salisbury

The Stone Circle at Stonehenge is a masterpiece of engineering and building with a history spanning 4,500 years. It is a unique experience to see this world-famous monument in person. Followed by an afternoon spent in the medieval city of Salisbury with its magnificent cathedral and delightful shops and open-air Charter market.

Skegness & Ingoldmells

Hop on board and enjoy a traditional day at the seaside at either Skegness or Ingoldmells. Award winning sandy beaches, fabulous attractions and lots of things to see and do along the promenade and seafront.

Saturday 7th August

Royal Windsor

Windsor is rich in history, famous for its royal connections and home to the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle. Explore this lively town set in a glorious riverside location steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside with a wealth of attractions to visit. Look out for the Royal Standard flying from the castle’s round tower as it is a sign that the queen is in residence.

Anglesey Abbey & Lode Mill

A day out visiting this stunning Jacobean house, gardens and working water mill is a must. There is a range of delightful gardens for you to enjoy from the formal and skylight gardens to the garden of statues, one of finest collections in the country. The month of August sees the Dahlia garden burst into colour with a dazzling display of 70 different varieties.Discount available for National Trust members.

Cromer, Norfolk Coast

A late summer outing to Cromer, on the Norfolk coast, a traditional seaside town with lovely sandy beaches, plenty of attractions to enjoy, and some fantastic scenic walks along the coastal path. Famous for its Victorian pier, Cromer is a bustling resort with pubs, shops and cafes and restaurants.

Do not miss this opportunity to visit the elegant Victorian spa town of Harrogate in the heart of Yorkshire. Indulge your curiosity in one of the many museums or spend some time browsing Harrogate’s eclectic and diverse range of shops. For art lovers and antique hunters, a wander around the cobbled streets of the Montpellier Quarter is essential. Make sure you leave plenty of time to sample the delights of Harrogate’s many award-winning independent cafes specialising in artisan breads and pastries or a delicious afternoon tea.

Ludlow Food Festival

Foodies will love this festival inside Ludlow Castle with more than 180 local food and drink producers and suppliers offering samples and tastings. Ludlow Castle itself is one of the finest medieval ruins in the country situated above the River Teme, set in glorious Shropshire countryside and in the heart of the thriving market town of Ludlow, an architectural gem.

Chester or Cheshire Oaks

Spend an unforgettable day out in the ancient city of Chester amongst the timbered framed buildings. Chester has the most complete city walls, 1000-year-old cathedral, and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain. Take in the historic sights or wander around the 700-year-old Rows galleries for a spot of browsing. If it’s retail therapy you’re after you can opt to spend the day shopping at MacArthur Glen’s Cheshire Oaks designer outlet instead, with 140 stores and plenty of choice of restaurants and cafes.

A visit to Westonbirt is a spectacular sight to behold at this time of year! You can marvel at the myriad of amber, auburn and crimson colours of the autumnal season. Westonbirt is a remarkable setting, a uniquely beautiful and inspiring landscape, with 15,000 specimens and 5 national tree collections.

Frozen the Musical – Theatre Royal, London

Escape into the wonder-filled world of Arendelle, during this popular matinee performance in the West End. Frozen is an uplifting story of love and sisterhood beautifully retold for the stage in this spectacular new musical featuring the cherished songs from the original film.

Beckworth Emporium Garden Centre & Restaurant

Indulge yourself in the Beckworth experience! Arriving shortly before lunchtime you can spend the afternoon browsing the different emporiums selling gifts, plants, delectable food and take in the fantastic Christmas displays. Take a break for a bite to eat in the relaxed atmosphere of the Garden Restaurant with a delicious menu to choose from.

The National Memorial Arboretum & Lichfield

This excursion includes a morning visit to the150-acre National Memorial Arboretum nestled amongst 25,000 trees with riverside walks and featuring almost 400 memorials to discover on the edge of the National Forest. During the afternoon you can enjoy a visit to Lichfield with its Georgian museums and stunning medieval cathedral.
