Henley-on-Thames – Free to Explore

Henley on Thames is a beautiful town, set in a riverside location and a regular winner of RHS Britain in Bloom medals, surrounded by a Chiltern landscape of wooded hills and green fields.  On this day trip by coach you can soak up the ambience of the town, the paved market place has a number of cafes offering outside seating while in the compact town centre there are numerous refreshment opportunities including locally run tea shops and cafes plus a host of restaurants and pubs some of whom brew their own ale.

Henley’s historic heart sits just a few strides from the River Thames. The main street has many Georgian frontages covering older buildings and among the 300 buildings within the town designated ‘of special architectural or historical interest’ are St Mary’s Church, the Town Hall, Market Place and the 18th Century stone bridge. The town with its many independent shops to browse, beautiful riverside walks and has featured as a location in Midsomer Murders is one of Oxfordshire’s gems.

You will have plenty of time to make your own plans and explore your chosen attractions in London on this day trip by coach.  The coach will drop you in the City of Westminster where you can spend your time visiting the many iconic sights such as Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Cathedral and much more.

Or you can choose to travel a bit further afield using the London Underground network to visit London’s many museums, markets or shopping.

Great Yarmouth – Free to Explore

Enjoy a late summer day out with us in Great Yarmouth, a popular and much loved seaside destination in Norfolk.  The beachside promenade known as the ‘Golden Mile’ is perfect for a stroll with its extra wide pavements stretching between two very traditional seaside piers.

Then browse around the hundreds of unusual shops or stop for a leisurely bite to eat in one of the pavement cafes along Regent Road, a wide pedestrianised avenue leading all the way from the seafront to the town centre.

Don’t forget to take the time to stop and watch traditional Great Yarmouth rock being made through the windows of the two rock factories.

Sudeley Castle & Gardens

Uncover the Castle’s secrets as you explore the Exhibitions, see the private Castle Rooms, visit Katherine Parr’s Tomb and more!

Sudeley Castle is also the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its grounds. On this day trip you can explore the beautifully restored 15th century St Mary’s Church where Katherine Parr, the last of Henry VIII’s six wives, now lies entombed.

England’s ancient capital is a city steeped in history with its sweep of medieval and Georgian buildings laid out according to the Saxon street plan.

Discover the beautiful illuminated Winchester Bible, 12th-century wall paintings, medieval carvings and contemporary art in the magnificent Cathedral. Or take a look around Winchester City Mill which has stood at the heart of Winchester since at least Saxon times. With a history of over 1000 years, Winchester City Mill is probably the oldest working watermill in the UK.

Travel by coach to the Three Counties Showground for an enjoyable day out at the Malvern Autumn Show.  This popular event is a favourite with our customers and there is a wealth of things to see and do from browsing the gardening village and flower show, marvelling at the giant veg, wandering around the local arts, crafts and food market or sampling delicious food from producers in the Food and Drink Village.

Oxford – Free to Explore

The dreaming city of spires, famous for its ancient University.  There is a great deal to see and do in this delightful city.  Some of Oxford’s finest attractions include the iconic Bodleian Library; Carfax Tower which offers superb views over the city; and the historic Covered Market with its many shops. There are a number of museums including the Ashmolean, Natural History Museum and the Pitt Rivers Museum all within walking distance of the centre.

Explore Oxford’s wide streets, intricate network of smaller lanes lined with noble buildings. There are many familiar sights that you might be able to spot often used as the backdrop to many TV programmes and films most famously Inspector Morse.

There are plenty of places to stop and relax for a delicious bite to eat and drink in one of Oxford’s many cafes, coffee shops, bistros and restaurants.

Newark & Southwell – Free to Explore

This twin destination trip by coach to the picturesque Nottinghamshire towns of Newark-on-Trent and Southwell.

Newark is situated on the banks of the River Trent and is steeped in history. The ruins of Newark castle have a unique presence on the character of the town and overlooks the large cobbled market square with a wealth of fine old buildings.  Explore the pleasant park area along the riverside walk with a weir or take a look around the Town Hall Museum and Gallery, before transferring to the pretty town of Southwell.

Southwell with its magnificent cathedral, Southwell Minster, boasts one of the finest Norman Naves in Europe and is characterised by its unusual pepper pot towers.

In both towns you’ll find plenty of places for a delicious bite to eat and plenty of antique, vintage and independent shops to browse around.

Batsford Arboretum & Moreton-in-Marsh

A visit to Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre in the Cotswold county of Gloucestershire at Autumn time is a must see event!

Autumn brings with it a riot of leaf colour ranging from deep butter yellow through to orange reds and crimsons as well as an abundance of berries.  It’s a natural fireworks spectacular throughout the autumn months. A visit to the garden centre is a haven for those with a passion for gardening and plants.

On this day trip we also make a morning visit to the lovely Cotswold market town of Moreton-in-Marsh for a wander around the charming wide main street and back lanes.

Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre

Jodrell Bank is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a wealth of things to discover at Jodrell Bank.

The centre of attraction is the Grade I listed Lovell Telescope, however there are many indoor and outdoor exhibits to engage with.  Visit the brand new First Light Pavilion designed to look like a circular hill set in the gardens and housing displays, objects and artefacts from the site’s rich history, incorporating the fabric of the original 1957 surface of the Lovell Telescope.

BRAND NEW FOR 2022 – A beautiful new 130 seat planetarium with a 30 minute immersive show of the night sky is included in your admission.

The Planet Cafe will be open for a bite to eat to complete your interesting day out discovering this unique observatory site of scientific importance, a must for anyone interested in space and the night sky.

Brick Lane Music Hall – Show and Afternoon Tea

‘There’ll Always be an England’ promises to be a truly memorable show.

Arriving at the Music Hall in time for doors open at 1.15pm the show begins at 2pm with a delicious afternoon tea served in the interval. A great treat to share with friends before the madness of the festive season begins.

The Imperial War Museum – London

A great opportunity to visit the Imperial War Museum in London without having to worry about driving or parking in the capital with lots of time to explore the museum and see war through the eyes of the people who lived it.  The museum was founded during the First World War, it documents the extraordinary experiences of ordinary people forced to live their lives in a world torn apart by conflict.

Displayed across six floors, the museum’s vast collections encompass a wealth of objects – from uniforms to photographs, vehicles to films, weapons to works of art – each with a story to tell. A great day out for anyone interested in wartime history.

Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre

Wander around the picturesque New Street and Friar Street at Worcester’s traditional Christmas Victorian Fayre with plenty of Victorian themed characters, festive treats and a wonderful atmosphere. Spalding Market Day & Bay Tree Garden Centre

Our annual trip at Christmas time to a traditional market town and garden centre visit this year is to Spalding on Market day followed by a visit to Bay Tree Garden Centre.

Spalding is a charming Georgian town in the Lincolnshire Fens on the River Welland.  The town is an interesting place to stroll around. It hosts many charming 18th-c buildings, covering a network of streets along both banks of the river, which is spanned by seven bridges.  Tuesday is market day and the festive spirit is always in full flow.

We then make a visit to Bay Tree Garden Centre, the UK’s largest independent garden centre with 16 acres of retail therapy, a licensed restaurant. coffee lounge and famous Christmas displays.
