A Royal Day out at Buckingham Palace

What you can expect to see and do during a visit to Buckingham Palace Summer Opening 2025.

We are looking forward to our visit to Buckingham Palace State Rooms this summer which will offer some exciting new exhibits to discover for the first time.

This day trip by coach offers a self-guided tour around the magnificent State Rooms of the Palace where a complimentary multimedia guide is available so that you can learn all about the numerous treasures of the Royal Collection including paintings, exquisite furniture and porcelain.

This will be the first opportunity to view the Coronation State Portraits of The King and Queen in their new permanent home in the Throne Room, which is a highlight for this year’s summer opening at Buckingham Palace.

In addition, you can discover a special exhibition of The King’s Tour Artists Exhibition housed in the Palace Ballroom. Over the course of 40 years The King has personally selected various artists to accompany him on his overseas tours to document by drawing or painting whatever inspires them in capturing a different atmosphere to the usual photographic records.  This stunning exhibition with over 70 works of art on display provides glimpses into life on Royal Tour.

Make your visit to the Royal Palace complete with delicious refreshments (not included) in the Garden Café on the West Terrace which serves light bites, cakes and hot and cold drinks.  You could indulge in an afternoon tea (no need to pre-book) served in a limited-edition keepsake tin and includes delicious finger sandwiches, earl grey scones, lemon drizzle cake, apricot bakewell tart and a Guiness red velvet cake served with your choice of tea or coffee or with the option of English sparkling wine or a Buckingham Palace Gin and Tonic.

Before you leave the elegance of the Palace and grounds to meet the coach you can browse the Garden Shop to pick up a souvenir of your visit or sample a delicious treat from the ice-cream parlour along the garden path serving indulgent plant-based vanilla soft serve as well as a selection of ice-cream sundaes.

If you would like to see the magnificent State Rooms, the Coronation State Portraits and The King’s Tour Artists Exhibition for yourself, why not book seats on our day trip on Thursday 11th September 2025 with local departures from Lutterworth, Rugby, Market Harborough, Blaby, Broughton Astley, Whetstone and Narborough.
