Bakewell Market Day & Tissington Well Dressings

£28.00

Monday 18th May 2026

ROUTE C + R

A visit to Bakewell on the idyllic River Wye is the biggest town in the Peak District National Park, with its mellow stone buildings, a medieval five-arch stone bridge and quaint courtyards.  On Mondays there is a bustling outdoor market, take a stroll through the town to discover scenic buildings, pretty streets and a lovely riverside.  With plenty of tearooms and cafes to choose from you will be well refreshed before we transfer to the village of Tissington, a picture perfect village, built around a noble hall and a duck pond.  At this time of year our visit is to view the well dressings, a traditional Derbyshire annual event and an ancient custom, traditionally held as a thanksgiving for clean water.  Well Dressings feature panels created from natural materials including petals, moss and seeds to decorate the village’s five wells.
